September Summaries

Greetings Friends!

I do need to get more consistent about posting on here. The reasons I have not more recently is because I work all day, go home  (during rush hour...yay!) cook dinner, have family with my hubby, Sara, Tim, Gideon, and May, then it is time for bed. I decided today if I have time while the little guy is playing or watching his shows I would update you all.

One exciting update! The landlords are permitting us to stay with Tim and Sara for a whole year!! That was a HUGE relief for all of us, rent and utilities are much more affordable being split but it was also really exciting. We all really enjoy living together and the dogs would be sad if they had to part. =) At the house we call each other family, and it has really come to that point. We as couples and individuals have shared allot of personal things with each other. Omer and I have never had a relationship with anybody like the one we have with Tim and Sara. It is continuing to be a blessing. On Monday we each shared one thing we are going to work on implementing in our lives starting this week to improve our marriage relationship, we are trying to hold each other accountable. Since it's only Tuesday I cant really tell you how productive it has been.

As for work and school, it is going well. My job is becoming more enjoyable as the kids and I are growing closer. It is allot of work, sometimes I feel like I am balancing 2 families (which in some ways I am), and becoming a child psychologist. Hadley, Quincy and I have been  playing princess for 2 hours everyday since Thursday of last week. When she arrives home from school out come the costumes and Tiaras! I am very thankful I have an active imagination otherwise this would be misery. It has given me a chance to see some of the things that are in her heart and mind, which I am thankful for. She plays out allot of her perceptions  and feelings of her life situations out in our games, so it has been very useful for me. Grady, the oldest boy, is still not wanting to have much part of me. Which I can understand. So if you would keep that in your prayers I would appreciate it. Omer's school is going very well! Parts of me wish I didn't have to work so long but I was realizing yesterday it is a good thing I do, because sometimes he still has not finished his homework or  is still in class when I arrive home. I would be very bored. Church is becoming a weekly part of our life. If you know us well that may surprise you, if you don't know us that well disregard this comment. Imago Dei has already been a large blessing in our marriage. Teaching us allot and softening Omer's heart continually. Imago is unlike any place I have ever attended. I was trying to put my finger on what is different and and word that comes to me is Humility. The musicians, pastor, elders, everybody we have heard on stage have a quiet humble demeanor. The place is full of people of all ages, styles, and backgrounds. I get excited thinking about going on Sundays. We are also trying to take a marriage course they are offering and I am looking to take a class on the Gospel of John during the week.
Weather here is magnificent! Pretty much my dreams come true....for now at least. When we arrived everything was very brown from the dry season. But the rain has come and everything is turning green and will soon be turning lots of lovely colors!

Well, I have been on here too long already. I do hope you are doing wonderful. Thanks for keeping up with us!

Much love,
Hannah

Life is better with the Bieris

Hello All!

I have been thinking the last couple of days about how I need to update this and I havn't. But thanks to Mollie Schroeder I am here and writing now! =)

Alright, here it goes. I  have taken a job as a nanny of three children, Grady 9, Hadley 6, and Quincy 4. Tomorrow is my official starting day so we shall see how that goes. The time I have had with them has been a pleasure, so I'm not too worried about it. Hadley is a big fan of the fact that we have the same color eyes and Quincy said he likes my style. Apparently I'm off to a good start. Omer wasn't as successful as I  though. Quincy doesnt like the furry thing on his face, said his daddy is going to make a rule that nannys cant bring their husbands who have those over to the house. Ahh, cute stories already!

Omer has officially finished his second week of classes. Pretty exciting. He attends school Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday all day and studies like crazy in the rest of his free time. It's been good for him so far. He is learning greek, and lots of other scholarly stuff!

Now, to my favorite part! We have not found a house/apartment, but no worries were not still sleeping in a hotel. We are living with some new found friends. Hence the blog name "Life is better with the Bieris". Their names are Tim and Sara Bieri and their our Portland BFFs. They also have a dog name Maybelle who Giddy has become rather attatched to. It's really pretty cute. They run, dig , play, and attempt escape plans out in the back yard. It has been a week and a half since we moved in with them but it feels like way longer. It's been incredible how God has used it in all of our lives. We have family time nearly every night. Sara and I cook dinner then we all sit down and eat. For the first few days we just chatted then we began each sharing our life stories. So even though we have only been friends for a week, it feels like it's been much longer. They're a true blessing in our lives. We feel completely at home here and always enjoy our nightly chats over ice cream and occasionaly a game or movie. A couple of us have made comments on how sad it is going to be when Tim and I's jobs get crazy, or Sara and Omer's homework becomes overwhelming, or we move out. Then there wont be anymore family dinner times or nightly chats over ice cream. On our way out to Portland God showed me 4 different rainbows and each time He spoke to my heart and reminded me that He was going to take care of us. I never imagined it was going to be this way, but I sure am glad because I wouldnt have it any other.

Much love!

West Coast Groove

Our arrival in Portland is OFFICIAL!

It's been good, not easy of course but good. It has been a few days since my last post. Honestly, I havn't known where to start. Omer has been bugging me to post again and I myself have realized I need to but I was lacking motivation. Since I needed some motivation I decided to find  myself some jams on "Myspace" to help me out. So far so good! Hooked up the headphones and found myself some Maroon 5.....Adore them! Yeah, yeah, I know alot of people aren't big fans. Something about them though....rockin! They just make me want to get groovin. And yes I did just use the word groovin....old? Maybe. The credit goes to Christopher Duke of Indianapolis, he got me started. =)

Alright, down to business! Apartment searching has been LAME. I love moving....hate apartment searching. There are so many hoops you have to jump through. Which for the land lords, of course, is necessary. But oh, how I hate them! We will pay you the money, one way or another it will be in your hands by the deadline just give me a place to live! Irritating. It is what it is though. Life goes on.
Last night we attended the " Get acquainted" pizza dinner. It went well...I thought. Omer has his own opinion on those types of things....honestly, the only reason we went is because it was FREE FOOD! Cant beat that when your living in a hotel.

Where our dog is concerned.......He is getting HUGE. His collar gets tighter every day. Oh, I forgot to mention he has graduated to his big boy collar and I have already had to loosen it. His muscles are toning exceptionally well. We are working on training him because he is starting to realize he can walk me and not the other way around. I also think he is unhealthily attached.
For instance: Omer was at the pool and I was taking a shower. Gideon barked when I disappeared behind the curtain, he then stuck his head in just to make sure I was still there. He was then content to lay down on the foot towel, but when I got too quiet in the shower he would bark, I would talk to him and he would relax.

Something you may be wonder who is "Omer"??  No, I have not found another husband. For those of you who don't know that is Dylan's actual first name and that is what he is going by here in Portland. He has used "Omer" since he was at IUPUI but since CCBC people called him "Dylan" and his family uses "Dylan" I used it most of the time except at home on occasion and with Blake Behr.....I actually really only call him "Honey", "Babe", or nothing because hes usually the only one around. But it gets confusing to people when their calling him "Omer" and I am calling him "Dylan". So I opted to use Omer.....It's much easier on everybody. Just so you understand.

Alright, I think that  covers most everything for now! Thanks for keeping up with us, Life is good!

Peace!
Hannah Marie and Omer D.

P.S. For it raining alot here, we sure have seen alot of sunshine!

Heart Stories

I actually have some time on my hands to write tonight. Our current location is Idaho Falls. We're camping out in the car tonight and will head out again bright and early for Portland. This is our last leg and we are both very  thankful for that.  Gideon is doing great! For those of you wondering. We swear as we watch him when he sleeps we see him growing. He has made friends EVERYWHERE. Human friends, not dog. He loves the attention, of course. As for what has happened between my last post and now........I don't know if I will ever be able to explain it.

After leaving the coffee shop we slept in our car at a rest area and we actually accomplished some quality sleep that night. We woke to a gorgeous Montana sunrise and enjoyed it thoroughly. That afternoon we arrived in Yellowstone; after the most nerve wracking drive of my life. I have rode up, down, and around mountains before.....but this one........this one had me nervous! Obviously we lived through it, and might I add it was the most breath taking beauty my eyes have ever beheld. The UP was great. Wisconsin and Minnesota it was night. North Dakota was pretty. Montana was beautiful. Montana and Wyoming mountains........The epitome of beauty. We took pictures but they don't come close to serving the landscapes justice. To finish off this topic I guess I will just say God is real and God is good.

I needed refreshed. I needed to see Jesus' love in a new way.......now I have.
He is Awesome.

Buffalo Crossing

Alright, We are now officially more than half way! It has been a good trip. Our current location is Billings, Montana. Tomorrow we are planning to be in Yellowstone and stay there for up to 3 days.

We stayed at Theodore Roosevelt National Park last night and spent most of today there. Very cool! We had to sit 3 times and wait for a few different heards of Bison/ Buffalo to mosey their way across the road. An experience for sure. The first time it happend we werent really sure what to do so we just sat there until they were off. By the 3rd  encounter we felt like pros.

Anyway, there have been no car troubles, weather troubles, or anything bad really. We havnt had phone signal so if you have called then we wont get it until Portland most likely. If we even have it then.

Well the coffee shop I am at is about to close so thats all the time I have for now for updates.
Just know were safe and sound!

Pizza, Sunsets, Orange juice and Peanut butter

Here we are in the UP of Michigan! It's GORGEOUS! The wind has been a bit nutty, but tolerable. We camped out at a place called "Lake Shore Campground" it's nice, very quiet. Gideon has done pretty well! He got antsy in the car yesterday but he also didnt get any exercise before we hit the road. So today we are going to take him to the beach (because he LOVES sand and he LOVES to dig) before starting our second day of traveling. Temerature wise.....AHHHMAZING! It's the middle of August and I am sitting here wearing a fleece jacket with jeans! And flip flops....of course.

Our dinner last night was pizza....yes, it was delivered to our campground. Conv
enient huh? We enjoyed it for sure! We bought it 1. We didnt want to get in our car again. 2. It was a deal and we could eat it the next day for a meal or two. Worked out excellent.

Today we begin our logest stretch, 17 hours to our next camp sight. Were not in a huge hurry, going to mosey along, enjoy the scenery. =) Well, I do hope you are all doing well. Thanks for keeping up with us!

Toodles!

Turn, Turn, Turn

Never did I think I would do one of these blog sites. My life has never proved interesting enough. Who would want to read about me? But seeing as we are moving away from all we have ever known I thought maybe circumstances called for it. Plus, it will be MUCH easier for me to keep up with everybody. Now I will only have to write one post and everybody can come and see it as they please. Ahh, the convenience of internet!

So, welcome to a new season of our lives! Our departure to Portland begins tomorrow. Life will be new and exciting! For a while at least. I'm sure some stress and possibly anxiety will be mixed in there. That is to be expected though. Anyway the purpose of this sight is to keep you all updated in a bit more depth than facebook. If you care about where we are and what our lives entail, then come and check it out. Pictures will be posted....how often? I don't know. I will do my best to make it either weekly or biweekly. Probably biweekly. Feel free to ask us questions or give me suggestions about what you all want to know more about. Remember, I'm new at this!

Thanks for reading!

Hearts,
Hannah Marie
